THIS COMES FROM A VERY WISE AND DEAR FRIEND.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Please forgive me for my weaknesses and impatience (and dry wit).

Please bless me to be as faithful to my religion as the FLDS are to theirs.

Please bless our country at this time when the Constitution hangs by a thread (and Barack Hussein Obama is fixin’ to snip it).

Please bless all the FLDS defendants who are being accused of pedophilia and sexual molestation for simply marrying as did 99% of our pioneer ancestors.

Bless the government to have a teensy-weensy little bit of forgiveness, since all the Fundamentalist Mormon communities have now pledged to refrain from all marriage age violations (even though the statutes keep changing for political reasons).

Please bless Raymond’s family-members (and all his children, too).

Bless the jury to not be infected by the bitter acrimony of the anti-polygamy crusaders.

Bless them to see Raymond for the honorable father he is, and to see that his religion was his reason for structuring his family in the way he did, and that his loyalty to his imprisoned prophet is a sound assurance that he will not fall afoul of the law again.

Prompt the hearts and minds of the sincere jurors to sentence him to probation, so that no more children will have to be wrenched from their father.

Bless all those who war against the FLDS; soften their hearts so that there can be peace and no more hostility.

Last of all, please inspire the Texas Appeals Courts to be as wise and courageous as they were last year, and overturn the epic travesty which was the unlawful search of the YFZ Ranch.

In the name of Jesus Christ,

Amen

  1. The stacking of a jury can be accomplished by positioning jurors in the correct position and outside of defense “strikes”. It is done all the time in Texas. Every juror completes a questionaire before the prospective jurors are seated and each side can eliminate a predetermined number of unwanted persons without question………….after the defense runs out of “strikes” just be sure to have acceptable jurors to the prosecution.

Darned if the FLDS prospective jurors were never seated in a position to get on the jury.

So simple and the Texas AGs’ office is good at stacking the deck.

  2. Duane,

$44,000.00 (And counting) can bribe the best of folks.

Besides, he doesn’t have to buy malpractice insurance no matter how ridiculous his conclusions are.

  3. Ron, I have to tell you that it is very refreshing to hear some one with an opposing view who does not resort to name calling, vulgarity, etc.
Though I may disagree with you, and very strongly, I respect your civility, and your ability to discuss your difference in opinion in a decent way.

  4. No Maayan,

You were right the first time. barbie stacked the jury with FLDS haters.

The Court knows each and every juror, and how they voted in past cases. You can bet your bottom dollar that the “Choices” the defense had was one “Hang em” Juror to another after another.

Jurors that vote to acquit are never invited back. That’s a fact! In Texas, I wouldn’t doubt that barbie sat down with these jurors of some drinks to discuss the case. (Except the Hispanics, of course).

Texass, it’s a whole nuther Country! Yeah, Nazi Germany for instance.

  5. Beall said he avoided reading others research on polygamous communities because “I didn’t want my perspective to be affected,” and didn’t balance his work with interviews from people still in the sect because it would be “tainted data. I wasn’t interested in it.”

So if a polygamist says they are happy it is “tainted data” and should be discarded? This Dr. Beall didn’t want any data challenging his bigoted opinions.

  6. ok, they are not flds haters, sorry, i wrote it bad, but a jury cant do its job if they only bring carolyn jessop and company, including the dr whateveer to talk and not woman and others from flds!!

  7. Ron, the plain fact of the matter is that there was no complaining victim. Because of this, it van be inferred that the reason for this prosecutuion was religious persecution. That joke called Larry Beal said Janet Jeffs would be traumatized by her experience without ever having examined Janet Jeffs.

  8. they put in the jury FLDS haters

Unless you claim that the entire jury pool consisted of FLDS haters who were bound and determined to hide this, then there is no way that is true.

People are chosen at random. They are quizzed extensively about their beliefs. Raymond had one of the best lawyers in the state who is skilled at getting any “FLDS haters” off the jury.

Does this mean that there were no folks on the jury with secret agendas? Obviously you can’t rule that out. However, a jury of 12 “FLDS haters” is also highly unlikely.

  9. Brooke:
“Obviously some offenders were charged with …a higher level offense (first-degree) to come up with that 22.2 year average since that is more than the applicable penalty in Jessop’s case.”

My reading of Brooke’s post was that she pointed out the data Texas provided her was not relevant to Raymond’s case. I have little doubt that the objective of the state could have been to BS her.

  10. As for an adolescent girl, her maturity is frozen, tied up in an avalanche of emotion, Beall told jurors. Instead of using the logical and reasoning parts of her brain to make decisions, the emotional parts of her brain come into play in a misfire that interferes with her development. She would respond emotionally to events and would not develop good decision-making skills, as well as have difficulty coping with life compared to adolescents who had not been assaulted.

Dr. Beall is a kook. He just told the world that a rape victim can never be trusted in positions of authority.

This is like if the goverment went after your wife for being Vietnamese and cooking vietnamese food in your house, this is exactly the same, they are after the FLDS just because they are FLDS, they put in the jury FLDS haters, just like if they called Vietnam war veterans and say your wife shouldnt live in USA because Vietnam killed lots of americans, and that you should go to jail because you married a vietnamese!!!!
And then, they put as jury pure USA war veterans, or their wifes and they would say you should go to jail because of that.
And as whitnesses, they would put ONLY USA war veterans and no people from vietnam saying what the USA did to their country!!
If this is not racism then what is it??

  13. Heh RiH! You know when two armies meet on a battlefield the first thing both sides do is pray. Obviously one side or the other is disappointed.

    13. Alinusara10 on November 10th, 2009 at 11:13 am
  14. Well Ron…………..do the prayers of several thousand FLDS get get trumped by the prayers of a few million Baptists?

Hmmm, I don’t know. Are you saying God works by majority rule?

  15. Well Ron…………..do the prayers of several thousand FLDS get get trumped by the prayers of a few million Baptists?

Stage one of he decision of the State to persecute a religion is almost complete. Kinda funny how the Religion of the majority trumps the religion of the minority.

  16. The jury is merely doing barbie’s work.

I would not at all be surprised after the piece in Brooke’s blog if the jury doesn’t want to know how to send Raymond up for the 22 year (Average) sentence.

The State cleverly sent Brooke the figures including first degree agravated rape, and Brooke swallowed instead of spat.

Why would a supposedly smart reporter regurgitate the States bullshit?

As I said, the last 3 cases like Raymonds in Swastica County resulted in all 3 getting less than 3 years. All Brooke had to do was ask Peggy and she could have learned that, but instead, she prints the propaganda.

She should have realized that the State was jerking her off when they came back with the info in record time. Are we dealing with gullibility or malice?

There’s a huge difference between a predator who would jump your child if given the chance, and an FLDS follower. I would not hesitate for a moment to give my grandchildren to any of these men unsupervised, could you say the same thing about your neighbors?

As stated from day one, this is NOT about child abuse, it’s about their “Belief system” (The Gestapo’s words).

    16. Bill on November 10th, 2009 at 10:33 am
  17. iF the jury proves to be vindictive, we will not accept it. We will continue to resist the religious persecution of the FLDS.

    18. THOMAS on November 10th, 2009 at 8:44 am
  18. Well, you prayed for it together and since the Bible says that when two or more pray in his name that it will be done, now will people accept that whatever the jury says is God’s work?
